The Good shepherd
I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down
his life for the sheep.
Many a time I don’t even know or understand what I am doing with my life, lots of times I have made decisions that I am not proud of. Like every other person I feel lost, confused, uncertain about the future, anxious, worried and all alone in my struggles. Like the sheep I need a shepherd to guide me through my live’s journey . In the bible, God referred to us as sheep ”My sheep hear my voice…” (John 10:27) I …will search my sheep and seek them out” Ezekiel 34:11) and so on. No amount of motivation or positive words will change the fact that a sheep is a sheep. The question then is, what kind of shepherd is shepherding our lives? That a sheep is properly guided, provided for and protected is determined by the kind of shepherd the sheep has. What makes the difference in a sheep is the shepherd. Who is your shepherd?
Jesus is the good shepherd, Jesus was and is humble, selfless, concerned, intentional, caring, tender, brave, dedicated and particular about every little detail about us that he laid down his life for our sake. Although we are not perfect, we make terrible decisions, we keep falling short of God’s glory, we do the dumbest things, we can absolutely succeed because the lord Jesus is our shepherd.
Often times we want to figure things out on our own, we struggle, we stumble and Christ is there calling unto us to come our lay our burdens at his feet. Jesus is interested in every tiny detail about us. He is ready to guide us through the valley of the shadow of death only if we are willing to totally surrender to him just as the sheep is totally submissive and obedient to the leading and guidance of the shepherd.
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
Trust and Obey by Don Moen

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
